HISTORY:

- Premier Skateshop hosts a demo in the parking lot of a church in Wayne, NJ.

- A member of that church who skated contacted his friends Steven and Matt Wolfe to help him start a skatepark in that same parking lot.  “Shiloh Skatepark” was born.  They started the first season with five Saturday sessions in the parking lot.  Admission was free, and the church financially supported the program.

- The third season of Shiloh Skatepark had thirteen sessions, and it was not uncommon to see 250(+) skaters in the church parking lot.  Unfortunately, due to liability, the church asked the three guys to take their skateboarding program elsewhere.

- The three founders presented their idea for a portable skatepark to Touch The World Ministries [TTW].  TTW loved the idea, but was working with another organization called Shiloh, so the skatepark name was changed to Solid Foundation.  A TTW supporter had a parking lot that was unused on Saturdays, and Solid Foundation Skatepark found a new home. Free skate sessions were held at the new location in Midland Park, NJ every other Saturday from May through October.

- To handle the rapid growth and large crowds of the Saturday sessions, Solid Foundation expanded to opening the skatepark every Saturday from May through October.  A weekly Bible study skate group, simply known as SkateClub, also started for kids of all ages.  Steven Wolfe came on as full-time staff of TTW in the skatepark department

- SkateClub quickly grew from a dozen skaters each week to several dozen.  The group split into high school SkateClub and junior high SkateClub.

- Junior high SkateClub was growing quickly and had many kids under the age of 12.  SkateClub split again to form a third group: Groms SkateClub.     Also in ‘05, the first Skateboarding Missions trip went to Myrtle Beach, SC to help a church build a skatepark.

- The second Skateboarding Missions trip was taken out to Redwood City, CA to help a “Skate Church” host a skateboarding camp.

- The donations that were coming in to Solid Foundation were dwindling and letters went out to parents to help keep the skatepark free.  When only four families responded to a 700+ mailing, Steven and staff reluctantly decided to charge an $8 admission fee for Saturday sessions.

- A fourth SkateClub group starts for skaters from a local private school.  Two interns, Ross Pino and Cory Fieldhouse join the staff of SFNJskateboarding.

- Planning for an exciting future of SFNJ.  Get psyched.
